WHAT - the My Health for Life program has been developed and funded by the Queensland government with hopes to empower others to increase healthy lifestyle habits that prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and kidney disease. It's a 6-month program that involves 6 small group sessions.
WHY - We know that our lifestyle is linked to our risk of developing some diseases, so this program focuses on forming life-long healthy lifestyle habits not only based around healthy eating, but also exercise, safe alcohol intake, quitting smoking, sleeping, and coping with emotional or environmental stresses.
WHO - Those at high risk of chronic disease are eligible to participate in this program (e.g. if you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and/or family history of diabetes). You can determine your eligibility using the online quiz at www.myhealthforlife.com.au or by contacting us. You don't need a GP referral for this program.
WHERE - Groups are currently being conducted in Boonah, Beaudesert and Tamborine Mountain. On request, groups may be run in other locations throughout the Scenic Rim.
WHEN - The next groups will be commencing in June and monthly thereafter.
